Principles of pathology, genetics and statistics important for radiologists from research point of view are enumerated. Basic principles of medicine including management of contrast reactions, basic and advanced life support which are important for radiologists in day to day practice are dealt in dedicated chapter. Section 2 covers the multisystem disorders that affect multiple body systems either at the same time or over a period of time. Imaging plays a vital role in identifying the extent of systems involved and also in diagnosis by recognising the pattern of systems involved. The last part of the section deals with the general principles of oncoimaging dealing with multisystem involvement and facilitates easier understanding of this complex subject.
