Objectives
The course objectives focus on enhancing clinical competence and improving primary care practice through evidence-based strategies and updated guidelines:
- Implement updated guidelines in preventive medicine, including cancer prevention, vaccinations, and cardiac risk management
- Apply current strategies for managing common office conditions such as hypertension, diabetes, stroke, dementia, infections, and COVID-19
- Manage women’s health issues including cancer prevention, breast disorders, incontinence, menopause, and vulvar/vaginal conditions
- Diagnose and treat common dermatologic conditions and skin cancers
- Counsel patients effectively on nutrition, weight management, physical activity, and new obesity pharmacotherapies
- Perform problem-based history and physical exams focused on dermatology, neurology, and gynecology
- Conduct common office procedures in dermatology and gynecology
- Understand current oncology treatments, molecular and genetic testing, and cancer prognostication
- Enhance patient communication, shared decision-making, and interprofessional collaboration
- Critically assess medical literature, guidelines, and pharmacologic advances for clinical application
- Address health disparities impacting quality, safety, equity, and value in care delivery
- Promote quality improvement and cost-effective primary care practice
